Bundibugyo has one of the highest rates of sickle cell disease in the world. For many years, the issue has been quietly recognized but largely unaddressed, leaving individuals and families to face the devastating effects without proper care or support. Beyond the medical challenges, social stigma surrounding sickle cell disease continues to isolate those affected, making the burden even heavier.
Ourganda has stepped in to respond where others have not. As financial resources become available, the organization is initiating treatment programs and addressing the deeply rooted social issues that accompany the disease. The goal is not only to improve health outcomes but also to foster acceptance and support within the community for those living with sickle cell.
